Drawing and painting have been my passion from childhood. I was very fortunate to obtain my BA in art at UC Davis where I studied with Wayne Thiebaud and Roy DeForest among many other fine artists. Other mentors in the medium of watercolor were California artists, Jan Miskulin and Larry Welden.
I favor figurative work done from life, but each genre presents its own challenges, struggles, and joys. I love the special flow and expressive qualities of watercolor, often using watercolor approaches with my oils or acrylics. My paintings at this point are what might be called "relaxed representational," with abstracted elements and expressive exaggeration to communicate the "why."
Many public and private collections include my art such as the California Department of Aging and Kaiser Health System. My work has been featured in various media : television, newspapers, magazines and online. In the past few years, I have shown my work at several Northern California galleries including the Art Foundry Gallery, Sacramento, as well as the Governor's Office at the Capitol Building, Sacramento.
